Content: Choose a single soliloquy in one of the plays (a speech that a character delivers while alone, as it talking to himself or herself), and do a close analysis of it. Your close reading should not be a summary or paraphrase of the speech youve chosen, but will make a thesis-driven argument about some aspect of its meaning, its form, or its relationship to the rest of the play. What does it reveal about the speaker? What is the key idea that it the speech is meant to convey? What is significant about its sentence structure, imagery, symbolism, or other aspects of its formal design? How does it contribute to image patterns, themes, etc., across the play as a whole?

For the listed books, use any free version that you can find online, just make sure to properly cite the book on the works cited page.

Set forth a crisp, clear thesis about some aspect of these plays designs. Your thesis statement should set forth a focused, arguable claim about the play(s) that is based on supporting evidenceincluding plenty of direct quotations. Take a stand, offer an interpretation of the play(s), and persuade the reader that your interpretation is valid by quoting and analyzing passages that illustrate your claims.

Should be written in a 12pt standard font (such as Times New Roman), double-spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides (the standard word processor format). Please number your pages.
