Using your own research, choose an infamous criminal from history (examples below) and write an essay addressing ALL of the questions described below.

I suggest separate paragraphs for each of the subject topics below.
The paper must be typed and double spaced, 12 pt. font.
Your paper must include ALL of the questions posed – incorporated in a well written research paper with separate paragraphs. Do not list questions and do not provide number paragraphs. The paper must flow as a research essay paper with topic sentences and appropriate paragraphs and grammar.
You must incorporate specific examples from lectures and your research. No Wikipedia (it is not a trusted source and I will know!).
You will be graded on your thoroughness for answering each and every question, your ability to incorporate what you have learned with the selected topic, and your ability to explain your answers clearly.

I. PERSON AND CRIME
Who is (was) the person you have selected?
What crime(s) was the person accused and/or convicted?
What were the specific circumstances of the case? (where, what, how, when, who, and why?)
Why did the person allegedly commit the crime?
Was the purpose satisfied?
How was the person sentenced? (Disposition of the case).
PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS
Did the person suffer from any psychological problems?
If so, what?
Was the person actually diagnosed?
Was there something about the persons crime that was socially deviant, or simply criminal in nature?
Should the system have treated this criminal differently because of their psychological history/profile?
Was the persons psychological condition used as a defense?
How was it used? Did it work?

III.MEDIA
Was the person depicted in the media?
Why was the person depicted in the media? (why was he/she made famous?)
At what stage did the person reach the media and why?
From what perspective was the person depicted?
What influence did the media have upon the case?

IV. CRIME PREVENTION
Could the crime have been prevented?
If so, how? If not, why not?
How could the study of criminology have assisted in preventing the crime?
Did the criminal justice system work for, or against this person?

V. PUNISHMENT
How was the person sentenced?
Can the person be rehabilitated?
Do you feel the system will actually rehabilitate the person?
Is this the type of person that the system is intended to rehabilitate?
Where is the person now?
