Reflection essay: Prepare your essay in three parts: an introduction, a body paragraph, and a concluding paragraph. Start the introduction with This playlist is to to describe your key message(s) for the playlist, then in the body paragraph relate each video to championing patient safety using human factors principles and concepts, and in the concluding paragraph present your reflection of the playlist.

This video shows how a 22-year-old African American woman went to the hospital and displayed signs of a DVT but was denied care because of her lack of insurance. The video also touches on the discrepancies in the healthcare of women of color. In addition, a lower extremity ultrasound would have confirmed the diagnosis of the DVT and prevented her from getting on an airplane causing the clot to dislodge and ultimately kill her.

This video is a short clip from the show “The office”. In this clip the cast is trying to prevent errors from happening to remain employed. Due to a miscalculation another error is made.

This video discusses how work design affects human cognition and how structuring your work in a specific design can help reduce cognitive decline. In addition, suggesting processes between work design and cognition accumulate to affect longer-term cognitive outcomes, such as preventing cognitive decline as one ages. The video also discusses the five types of work characteristics; job complexity, job autonomy, relational work design, job feedback, and psychosocial demands and how they all play into human cognition.
