Students will look into and analyze the current situation facing the Philadelphia School
District. What has contributed to these circumstances? Who is affected and who will be affected by these
conditions? How do you perceive the long-term impact on the communities in the city and its residents? What is the
current value of education and earning a diploma? What is it really worth? Students will respond to their education
investigation in a two to three page typed analysis paper. Papers should demonstrate an understanding of social theories
associated with social / community analysis. Any resources utilized (including the class text) should be cited
appropriately using APA format.
