conflict and conflict resolution

After having developed a thorough knowledge of the principles of conflict and conflict resolution, and after spending time working through various empirical cases, students are asked to analyse a final conflict in the form of a conflict map. This exercise involves creating a map that identifies, describes andexplains the history, context, causes/issues, consequences, conflict actors (this may be local or international groups including governments, armies and insurgentgroups), and potential for containment
and eventual resolution. It sets out the various aspects of an on-going or recent conflict by using the most up-to-date and accurate data that canbe found and presenting it with an impartial, analytical voice. Students should pay particularly close attention to causes (both proximate and longer term), drivers, (potential) pathways to peacixce and the challenges of peacebuilding
