Introduce the issue and provide the reader with some background information about the issue. Why does your issue matter? What is it about-are there terms that need to be defined? In other words, what do I need to know in order to understand the issue? When is it happening-is there a history surrounding the issues? Who does the issue involve or affect?

My paper will be on why Section 230 needs to be reformed

APA FORMATTING EXAMPLE

APA formatting is required for this assignment APA formatting in google
Proposal arguments provide compelling reasons for supporting a claim about an issue. For more information on Proposal arguments, please see chapter 12 of your textbook.
For this assignment, you will write an APA formatted 7-10 page (7 page minimum) plus a Reference page proposal argument that cites a minimum of seven outside sources. Please use the library link to find your sources or other credible news sources.
You should have at least three sources from the library link-either journal articles or news source articles. The source you used for the rhetorical analysis counts as one of these sources.
Other sources include-Ted Talks, documentaries or docu series episodes, podcasts or interviews, websites, and other news sources.
Counterargument: You will need a paragraph that explains the counter argument. So one of your sources will have to be an argument in opposition to your argument
Your proposal essay should:
call for change, often in response to a problem
focus on the future
center on the audience
Introduction- Introduce the issue and provide the reader with some background information about the issue. Why does your issue matter? What is it about-are there terms that need to be defined? In other words, what do I need to know in order to understand the issue? When is it happening-is there a history surrounding the issues? Who does the issue involve or affect? Where is the issue taking place?
For example, if we use the topic of free education, my introduction would:
Provide examples of costs-what is the average cost for a four year degree, masters degree or medical school
explain how some students that borrow money for college end up with crippling debt
provide some statistics of debt and how many students end up with large debt
connect with the issue on a person level
Thesis/claim/should or needs to statement-
Proposals make a should statement based on a set of reasons
America should provide qualifying students with a free four-year education.
Because:
Body paragraphs- each body paragraph will be a reason why. So the topic sentence will contain the reason.
I would say at the very least you will have three body (because) paragraphs.
Each body paragraph will contain at least two quotes from outside sources in APA formatting
You will need a paragraph that explains the counter argument. So one of your sources will have to be an argument in opposition to your argument. You will need at least two quotes from the counterargument.
You will need a paragraph toward the end of the essay about your solutions, the feasibility of proposal, and a call to action-accomplishing this may take more than one paragraph.
Conclusion-this will include information about the future of your issue
Topics:
Your topic for this paper is the same topic you chose for the Rhetorical Analysis essay. In this paper you will be the expert making an argument about your topic.
For example, if you wrote about the opioid epidemic, your proposal could be that Big pharma should be required to provide free rehab and medical treatment for recovering addicts.
