Mission, Objectives, and Tasks
Inquisition includes intensive questioning or investigation to answer a question. Inquisitions are essentially an opportunity for students to take a deeper dive into and apply course concepts to the study of cultural geography though library research and/or observational interrogation. Inquisition should reflect a synthesis of core concepts of the course material as well as additional source information and critical thought. Complete one of the options:

Option #2 – Subaltern Geographies
Research a subaltern (non-dominant) cultural subgroup (subculture, counterculture, resistance movement, or those outcast from a society). Evaluate the difference from the dominant group, how that difference manifests within the subgroup, and how othering occurs in this case. The research may be supported by ethnography or autoethnography.

Source, Format, Organization & Length Requirements
Minimum Source Requirement: 2 expert sources (see Evaluating Sources resources provided)

Length & Format: 2-3 pages of text + cover page & works cited in 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced, with 1″ margins OR 5-8 minute video with audio content & a works cited slide or image.

Citation Style: APA format required

File format & name: Papers in Word doc or equivalent OR videos in mp4 file format. Filename: GEOG357_Inquitsition2_YourLastName

Organization: The work must include –

Cover page or opening statement – Title, your name, assignment & option, instructor, class information, and date.
Body Text that includes:
Introduction – provide context, state topic and research question, and give the reader a roadmap for where the paper is going.
Focus – explain your critical analysis. Use supportive evidence from your source material (See Critical Analysis in Writing handout).
Conclusion – let the reader know what you concluded, or learned, from the evidence. Answer the research question. Show how you supported your argument. Do not simply restate your introduction or summarize your paper.
