Please address the following in a 3-4 page essay (typed, doubled spaced) using the five documents dealing with the Black Death on pp. 254-259 in Sources of the Making of the West and pp. 337-340 (The Plague Comes to Europe in Chapter 13) in your textbook, The Making of the West. Note: I have upload below a copy of the five primary sources for you to read. The textbook material on the Black Death can be found in Chapter 13, Crisis and Renaissance, under the heading of Crisis: Disease, War, and Schism..:

Explain what the Black Death was.
Clarify the historical context (author and audience, date, central issue) of each of the five documents.
According to these documents, what caused the Black Death?
What did Contemporaries do to stop the plague from spreading?
Who was blamed for spreading the Black Death?
How did Pope Clement VI respond to the persecution of the European Jewish population?

The essay is worth 30 points. Make sure that the introduction of your paper includes the thesis statement. The thesis is the main idea of your paper which you will support with evidence in the body of your paper. Also, make sure to have a conclusion where you summarize the main points of your essay. Make sure that your essay has footnotes and a bibliography that are written using the Chicago Manual of Style. I’ve included and link below to help you out.
