This essay will be a semi-half-backed research paper. You will be answering the following prompt:

Explain what happiness is and how it ought to be obtained.

You will be answering this question based on the texts discussed in class (any of them) plus modern media (any song, album, episode, or film you like) plus an external scholarly source.

Be sure to use examples from at least 3 of the texts that we have discussed so far plus an addition of at least one scholarly article.

As you are reviewing the texts, do not forget to consider all of the implied claims, and do not forget to examine the validity of the claims

Your thesis should have two parts, one part of it should DEFINE happiness, and the other part of your thesis should argue how this happiness ought to be obtained. All of your responses need to be text based. If your thesis is only doing one of these two things, then you are not completing the assignment correctly.

You should, in essence, be building upon and enhancing your first two essays

You will need to adhere to MLA guidelines for in-text citations and paper formatting

If you do not have an accurate works cited, you will automatically be docked 10%

Your paper should be 7-8 pages

In research papers, you will need to offer a hefty amount of background, summary, and analysis of your new sources, so the structure of your body paragraphs can alter, but the essential structure of a topic sentence, evidence, and analysis needs to still be maintained; you can just add more in the middle when it comes to summary.
