(*You will choose this in Mod 8 for the short writing assignment,

so be careful that week when choosing a performance to write about!).

Now, write a literary analysis of this performance. The goal of your analysis is to tell your reader how you believe the text expresses its theme.

Your introduction will state the theme of the performance, as well as give some background (historical, biographical, cultural context) about the selection. At the end of your intro, your thesis should tell your reader your argument, as well as the main ways youll prove the argument throughout the rest of your essay. In this case, your thesis will explain how the theme is developed. In your thesis (and subsequent body sections), discuss at least one visual symbol, one characterization (including blocking, costuming, and/or voice acting choices), and one other element of your choosing (I strongly recommend you pick a conflict).

(For example, your thesis will read something like The theme of X throughout Film is demonstrated by the symbol of the X, the costuming of character Z, and element 3.)

Consider such elements as figurative language / symbols, the conflict and climax, any important dialogue, the point of view, any character choices, blocking, etc. In your body paragraphs, give specific examples of scenes from the production in which the author/director/actors developed the theme.

Assignment goals & grading: This essay will demonstrate your understanding of the terms we discussed in unit 3, as well as your ability to successfully analyze a theatrical production. You will be graded on how many literary terms/elements you discuss, whether you evaluate those elements (and how thoroughly you do so), and how well you support your overall opinion (your thesis) in the body of your essay.

You will also always be graded on grammar, spelling, punctuation, mechanics (proofread!!!), and word choice.

Criteria: This essay should be a minimum of four pages (1200 words), though you can expect to exceed that minimum. You must use two sources: the production itself and a scholarly source. You must quote from and correctly cite in-text each source at least once. An MLA-formatted bibliography is required for this assignment.

I have chosen the movie Frozen and have also made an outline that I will attach in the files. Please use my outline as a guideline for the paper.
