Write a research paper (10 pages maximum) beginning with the work done in previous modules. The scope of this project is to apply concepts you are learning in the microbiology lectures and virtual labs to one pathogen. Now that you have selected the pathogen that interests you and identified a general outline of the 6-I’s related to that pathogen you are asked to develop a research paper. The research paper must include your introduction (taken from pathogen selection assignment), a description of the laboratory techniques required to identify your pathogen in the laboratory (refer to the 6-I’s assignment) and this will include a dichotomous key representing the decisions needed to identify your pathogen in the laboratory. Finally, you will close out your paper by discussing the clinical implications, history of the disease globally, and any impacts on specific human groups. All work must be documented through APA style format, with intext citations and a works cited page. Global or Regional Historical Impact, Scientists that researched the pathogen, Vaccination programs in poorer nations, Impact on American Healthcare, Biotechnology associated with the microbe, Genetic innovations, or Impact on minority populations can be topics included in the conclusion.
