Text book – Mathis, R. L., Jackson, J. H., & Valentine, S. R. (2015). Human Resource Management: Essential Perspectives (7th ed.). Cengage Learning US. https://ccis.vitalsource.com/books/9781305465220
This writing assignment will result in a paper, minimum 6-8 pages (excluding the title page and the reference page) in length, which discusses a human resources issue of interest to the student. The activity provides students with the opportunity to address a question or current problem in human resources studies. The research sequence will form the core of written work for the course. Therefore, students will be expected to examine the various perspectives and theories that are covered in readings and in class discussions. The ultimate goal of this activity is for each student to produce a research paper in American Psychological Association (APA) format. In it, youll want to pose a thesis statement, explore current research related to your topic, and then share with the reader the information that you found. Develop your concepts by going beyond the textbook to explore your ideas using a minimum of five peer-reviewed articles published within the last 5 years. For maximum points, demonstrate your ability to critique and synthesize information.
The reasons for the research sequence are three-fold:
To work with core theories, perspectives, and current research findings by focusing on a specific topic;
To further develop library research skills; and
To study an area of human resources deeply.
