APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY IN THE PROFESSIONS
This assignment gives you the opportunity to take a deep dive into an area of applied psychology that interests you.

Scenario
Imagine you are applying for a researcher’s position in the Psychological Services department at a large health care organization. You are among three finalists for the job. The next step in the hiring process is to submit a short white paper that discusses a specific area of applied psychology that is of interest to you. A white paper is an authoritative report intended to help readers understand an issue, solve a problem, or make a decision.

Assignment Preparation
Prepare a 35 page paper discussing one aspect of applied psychology (applied behavioral analysis, counseling psychology, sports psychology, I/O psychology, legal psychology, or human factors psychology). To prepare for this presentation, choose one of the articles below. You may use these as sources for the assignment.

What does it do?
What are the key ideas, and theories, and who are the key contributors? Include historical milestones that influenced thinking in the field over time.
Analyze the societal or cultural needs that led to the development of this area of psychology, and include examples.
Analyze how a specific area of psychology may influence current professional behavior, and provide examples to support your analysis.
Use at least one professional source, such as a textbook, and at least two scholarly sources (peer-reviewed journal articles) to support your analysis.
Submission Requirements
You do not need an index or abstract for this paper. Use the APA Style Paper Template [DOC] linked in the Resources.

Length:35 pages of content in addition to a title page and references page.

Written communication: Must be free of errors that detract from the overall message.

Resources and citations: A minimum of three credible sources is required. At least two of the sources must be scholarly journal articles. A third may be a credible professional source, such as a textbook. Format references according to current APA guidelines.

Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
