As we’ve encountered in this module, the issue of living arrangements in later life is important and complex. We all have ideas about where we’d like to spend our golden years (my personal goal is to live in a seniors’ apartment community in a major city within walking distance of a bus line and a grocery store, like my aunt in Minneapolis does), but we don’t always have complete control over that due to financial, health, or other reasons. Your assignment for this week is to consider some of these factors for both you and your relatives who are currently elderly. Write at least one paragraph in which you answer the following questions:
Where do you think you will live when you reach older adulthood?
Where do your older relatives live?
What factors influenced the choices you described in the first two questions? Possibilities include financial resources, cultural factors, family size and availability, and health status, but there may be something else not mentioned here.
