II. ASSIGNMENT: Appropriate behavior is the area that continually challenges most educators. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is currently seen as one way to address those issues. Read the article: A Blueprint for Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support: Implementation of Three Components by Turnbull, et. al., 2002 (available in Canvas). Examine PBS using these questions as headings for your paper:
Headings & Rubric
a) Central Middle School: Discuss the relationship between PBS and Central Middle School (i.e.,What were the problems seen at Central? Why was PBS seen as an effective alternative to address these issues? What does being Centralized mean? Who was involved in the process? What were the results?) (5 points)
b) Case #1: Describe Jeremy in the case study (i.e., his strengths, weaknesses, disability, home life, and relationships). Also, why is the PBS model appropriate for this students needs? (5 points)
c) Behaviors: What are cool and un-cool behaviors? How do they apply to the entire student body and especially to Jeremy? How does the PBS model apply to Jeremys FBA? Please explain Jeremys Positive Behavior Support Plan that was a result of the FBA conducted on Jeremys inappropriate behaviors. (5 points)
d) Your Knowledge: What specifically have you learned from this case study that would be applicable to you as a future educator in inclusive settings? (5 points)
