Pick a movie or tv show that has a strong dyadic interpersonal relationship. Create a slide show for Please be sure to provide examples to support your analysis. This presentation should be about 10-15 minutes. I will provide an example next week. Please include images and or short video clips where appropriate. Analyze the movie or tv show for the following information:
Provide a brief summary of the show and an overview of the main characters.
Relational Stages—Identify and provide the stages of the relationship using Knapp Ten Stage Model and provide examples for each relationship stage.
Dialectical Tensions—Identify at least three dialectical tensions (name the tension and provide examples/scenarios to support the tensions) and identify the management strategies used to ease the tension (remember each person can manage differently.)
Communication Climates—Evaluate the communication climate (confirming vs disconfirming messages). Provide examples to support and why you believe they are confirming and/or disconfirming.
Gibbs Categories—Evaluate the dyadic communication for Gibbs categories of defensiveness and supportiveness. Provide examples to support your claim.
Conflict Styles. Identify the conflict that existed in the relationship. What conflict styles did they use (provide examples). Are the styles complementary or symmetrical? What destructive conflict patterns were present (provide examples). What, if any, were the conflicixct rituals that were present.
