This week’s course materials explored the idea of the power of self-definition, particularly for women of color, along with the concept of intersectionality and critiques of the concept. Citing at least two lecture videos and at least 3 videos, ease answer the following questions in a few paragraphs:
What is the power of self-definition? Why is this particularly important for women of color,? Who else has defined what/how women of color are, and how is self-definition a form of resistance against these outside definitions? What is significant about the different ways women of color choose to express who they are or are becoming? Be sure to think about these questions both structurally/systemically and individually.
